Eila Adams and Natasha Olenski are standing by with more. EA) Thanks Katherine. What should have been a picturesque vacation turned deadly off the Italian resort island of Giglio (ZHEE-lee-oh).NO) A passenger cruise ship making what SHOULD have been a routine voyage through friendly waters ran aground off the west coast of Italy. And naturally people want to know WHY EA) Here_s what we know so far. 1. EA) The casualty count has risen to at least six after the luxury liner Costa Concordia hit a reef off the Italian coast. According to officials as many as 16 passengers and crew remain unaccounted for. The ship_s captain Francesco Schettino (skeh-TEE-no) insists that his charts showed that he was in safe waters.NO) Prosecutors have hit Schettino (skeh-TEE-no) with several charges including manslaughter. They also accuse him of abandoning his ship several hours before the last of the passengers were evacuated. As for the recovery efforts they_ve been suspended due to inclement weather. 2. EA) Iran is talking tough with its neighbours in the Persian Gulf. Officials say there will be repercussions if their fellow OPEC (OH-pek) membercountries increase oil output to compensate for the looming ban on Iranian crude. The warning comes mere weeks after President Barack Obama signed legislation making it nearly impossible for most governments to buy oil from Tehran.NO) As a result Asian leaders reliant on foreign oil have begun negotiating with several Middle Eastern countries. Iranian officials are calling this an act of aggression stating that those responsible will be quote the main culprits for whatever happens in the region.3. EA) Meanwhile on the US political front yet another Republican presidential hopeful has dropped out of the GOP election race. Jon Huntsman the former ambassador to China has officially withdrawn from the race to become the GOP nominee. Some members of his campaign staff appeared to be caught off guard by the news after Huntsman placed a surprising 3rd at the New Hampshire primary.NO) Huntsman now says he_ll endorse frontrunner Mitt Romney. A campaign official said that Huntsman doesn_t want to stand in the way of the man most likely to defeat President Obama and fix the struggling US economy. Former speaker Newt Gingrich seemed especially chipper about the news. He issued a statement claiming that Huntsman_s resignation means that HE_S one step closer to the presidency.EA) It wouldn_t be an election season without a healthy dose of hubris (hyoo-bris) would it?NO) Not at all. I_ve got to say I thought Huntsman had the chance to surprise some people.EA) Well at best it will be as VICE President.NO) So it seems Eila. We_ll be right back.

And speaking of drugs gaining in acceptability California could soon be the state to visit if you want a SHROOM with a view A ballot measure has been proposed which would see the use and growing of magic mushrooms decriminalized Though currently illegal psilocybin was found to ease anxiety and depression in cancer patients in two recent studies. If the ballot measure can pick up around 370 thousand signatures it_ll be on the statewide ballot in 2018. Could be a very big year Don_t go away.

It was a huge night for Mitt Romney in New Hampshire. He_s now 2 for 2 and quickly looking like the sort of frontrunner that can_t be beat. Katherine Curtis has been tracking the results and joins us now for the story. KC) Eila - you_re bang on. Tuesday was definitely another big step forward for Mitt Romney. EA) So how_d he do numbers wise?KC) He pulled in almost 40 percent of the vote dwarfing the rest of the field. I know it_s still early in the process but he_s starting to get that presidential look to him.EA) I think the other candidates would have something to say about THAT Speaking of how did everyone else shape up?KC) There were definitely some surprises Eila (GO FULL SCREEN ON KAT) including the fact that the entire field has pledged to move onto the next primary in South Carolina. Welcome to the naked newsroom everyone.Mitt Romney must be feeling pretty confident today after DOMINATING the polls in New Hampshire. He took in about forty percent of vote followed by Ron Paul and Jon Huntsman who finished with a distant 23 and 17 percent respectively. After his big win Romney had a special message for President Barack Obama. Newt Gingrich Rick Santorum and Rick Perry - who received just one percent of the vote - rounded out the field. As I said earlier all six candidates have turned their attention to the next stop on the primary schedule - South Carolina on January 21. In other news today tensions are rising between Iran and Israel after the bombing death of an Iranian nuclear scientist in Tehran. Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan (mos-TAF-uh ah-MAD-ee RO-shan) was reportedly killed by a magnetic bomb that was placed on the underside of his car by an unidentified motorcyclist. Two other passengers were badly injured. It_s the latest incident in a series of similar attacks against nuclear scientists that Iran blames on covert Israeli forces. Roshan worked at one of the two sites in the country that is producing enriched uranium. And the infamous hiding spot of Osama bin Laden is set to be destroyed in spectacular fashion. Pakistani officials say they are planning a live broadcast of the destruction of bin Laden_s compound in Abottabad (ah-BOT-uh-bad). The shelter will first be hit with rocket propelled grenades before being bulldozed. The government wants to ensure the site does not become a shrine to the former Al Qaeda leader. The big event will take place next month with US and European officials also expected to attend. And that_s your first look at the news Eila i_ll send it back to you. Our lead story involves an ominous safety warning from aircraft engineers about the world_s biggest passenger jet the Airbus A-380. It_s led to major questions about passenger safety. For more on this story we_ll turn things over to Victoria Sinclair in the Naked Newsroom.VS) Thank you Eila. Australian engineers are calling for the grounding of all Airbus A380 models. This comes after both Qantas and Singapore Airlines found cracks in the wings of the super jumbo jets. Both companies maintain that the planes are safe. However Steve Purvinas (pur-VIN-iss) secretary of the Australian Licensed Aircraft Engineers Association feels otherwise. Purvinas says it_s unacceptable for airlines to gamble with passenger lives and wants all A380s grounded for inspection. There are currently 67 of the jumbo jet models in operation used by 7 prominent airlines including Air France Emirates and Lufthansa. Now to a different warning that could have equally dangerous consequences. Drug manufacturer Novartis (no-VART-iss) is recalling several popular over-the-counter medicines amid fears that bottles may contain powerful painkillers instead. The pills in question include Excedrin and No-Doz (no-doze) expiring before December 20 2014 and Gas-X and Bufferin expiring before December 20 2013. It_s believed that these bottles - from a troubled plant in Lincoln Nebraska - could contain powerful opioids such as Percocet (PERK-oh-set). The plant in question has been shut down. According to the FDA hundreds of complaints have gone un-rectified at the plant in the past two years. If you think you may have the products involved in this voluntary recall more information can be found at novartisOTC.com.The Consumer Electronics Show - the biggest tech show of it_s kind in the world - is underway in Las Vegas. And as usual it_s a feast for any tech junky Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer kicked things off by delivering what could be the company_s last keynote address at the show. The company also announced that Kinect - their popular motion controller for the Xbox 360 - will be coming for the PC. That will allow users to control their computer without a mouse. Korean company LG managed to turn a lot of heads particularly with a 55-inch OLED TV. INTO SPLITVS) Most astonishing Eila the set is just 4 MILLIMETERS thick and weighs under 17 pounds Back to you. EA) That_s pretty amazing Vic - I can_t believe something that big can be that thinVS) It_s not even the biggest TV that LG is showing off. They_ve also got an 84-inch Ultra Definition 3D TV.EA) Ok call me stupid but what_s Ultra Definition?VS) It has 8 million pixels which is about FOUR TIMES as detailed as High Def.
