If pictures are worth a thousand words, pictures of flooding are certainly enough to leave you speechless. Obviously, destroyed buildings are very hard to look at, but nothing makes the situation clearer than watching virtual rivers running through the streets of a major city. And the footage coming out of downtown Miami is unbelievable That_s hard to look at, but also very hard not to look at It_s crazy to see the pretty downtown Brickell neighborhood so devastated, but at least we can be grateful not to have seen people in those shots Of course, before any recovery can really begin, there are serious infrastructure issues to deal with. Specifically, Florida_s going to need its power back According to Governor Rick Scott_s office, nearly 6 MILLION customers are currently without power. On top of that, FEMA administrator Brock Long has already said that several places will be without electricity for WEEKS Given that power lines are reportedly down in 80 percent of Miami ALONE, even that seems optimistic In order to begin the recovery, Miami-Dade_s Mayor has issued a curfew. Except for official personnel, including Florida Power & Light employees, the county curfew will run nightly from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Some cities within Miami-Dade County are going with even stricter curfews than that, with Miami Beach saying people will not be allowed onto the island before noon on Tuesday. Normally, I_m against any kind of curfew... but in these unique circumstances, I think I_ll give the government a pass We_ll be right back.

It reported a 953 million dollar loss in the first nine months of last year alone The store closures will cost more than 33-thousand jobs. In 2014 she was being called the next Steve Jobs. Now she_s being called a con artist Elizabeth Holmes has been charged with massive fraud by the US Securities and exchange Commission. She_s the founder of Theranos, a company that became one of Silicon Valley_s hottest properties by promising WAY more than it could deliver. Theranos claimed it had developed a blood analyzer that would revolutionize the medical industry. But the tech turned out to be bogus, and now Holmes will have to pay a 500-thousand dollar fine, return millions of shares, and is barred from running another public company for a decade And Ford is recalling 1.4 million vehicles in North America, and I_d say they have a pretty good reason: the steering wheels are falling off The recall affects Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ models between 2014 and 2018. The issue_s being blamed on faulty steering wheel bolts that can loosen over time. So far two crashes and an injury have been linked to the problem. They_ve just busted up a HUGE theft ring that they say is responsible for up to a FIFTH of all the burglaries in Germany Interestingly, the gang, with up to 500 members, used mostly young female burglars, apparently because they were more discreet and less likely to do jail time Of course, after dozens of arrests in Germany, as well as in Croatia and Spain, I_m thinking those stats may be about to change The Fyre Festival was an unmitigated disaster, and now they_ve got the FBI investigation to prove it According to the New York Times, the US Attorney_s Office and the FBI are looking at the festival organizers for possible charges of mail, wire, and securities fraud In addition to bilking attendees, investors, and vendors, it seems the event planners were inventing luxury accommodations they didn_t have just to see if anyone would bite I know in the fight of Man versus Nature, we_re supposed to root for Man... but when it_s a man who_s dedicated his life to killing exotic animals, you can be forgiven for kind of wanting one to even the score. Sadly, the score was one-one on Friday, when professional big game hunter Theunis Botha was crushed to death as a fatally wounded elephant who_d attacked his hunting party fell on top of him.
